Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh International Hospitality Expo has said that tourism has the potential to drive the Indian economy to become the third largest in the world. Addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the 7th Edition of India International Hospitality Expo 2024 in Greater Noida, Mr. Shekhawat emphasised that the government is committed to excelling in tourism and hospitality. He said that the International Hospitality Expo has played a significant role in advancing India’s hospitality industry over the past six years. Mr Shekhawat highlighted that tourism in India holds numerous opportunities.
Mr. Shekhawat said that Agriculture and Tourism are the two key sectors in the country that can serve anything and everything that people desire. He further said that the tourism sector could significantly contribute to making India a developed nation by 2047.
Asserting that tourism is poised to become the largest economic generator in the country, Mr Shekhawat noted that the government is working on developing new destinations across the country. He further urged everyone to collaborate in making tourism one of the leading drivers of economic growth.
The event was attended by H.E. Moe Kyaw Aung, Ambassador of Myanmar; Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Chief Trade Counsellor of the Embassy of Vietnam; and several other dignitaries.
