Union Power Minister Manohar Lal assured that his ministry is committed to fulfill the demand of electricity to the entire country. He said that more power generation would ensure more employment generation. He was talking to media at Gangtok, Sikkim on Saturday after attending the regional conference of the Energy Ministers of North Eastern region. The Union Minister stated that the hill states of North East along with Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, are being given more funds for infrastructure in comparison to the plain areas. He said, there are opportunities of hydropower sector in North East states of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. He said, issues related to power generation, transmission and distribution were discussed in the meeting. Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and Power Ministers of North East also attended the conference.
