Union Minister Scindia urges unified push to make India a Telecom Manufacturing Hub

Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia held separate meetings with the newly formed Stakeholders Advisory Committee on Telecom Sector Original Equipment Manufacturers, Telecom Service Providers and Tele-Electronic Eco-System in New Delhi yesterday. The meetings focused on making India a hub for telecom product manufacturing and improving the ease of doing business.
Mr Scindia emphasized that all Industry segments, Telecom Service Providers, Telecom Industry Associations, Global and Local manufacturers should work together to make India a Telecom Manufacturing hub for the world. He assured that the Ministry of Communications would provide the necessary support and called for cooperation with the industry to realise the establishment of a ‘Telecom Manufacturing Zone.
The Minister highlighted that the existing government schemes and incentives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) are designed to encourage indigenous manufacturing of telecom products in the country. He said that all these efforts aim at making “Bharat, a product manufacturing nation’ and giving a spur to “Make in India, Make for the World for Telecom products” vision. The meetings also reviewed progress on issues taken up previously.
