Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal says there will be dedicated AYUSH Academic Department in AIIMS in country

Union Minister for AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal today said there will be dedicated AYUSH Academic Department in all All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the country. He was speaking at the regional review meeting of the National AYUSH Mission in Mumbai today. 

Mr Sarbananda Sonowal said that Government is trying to ensure that both modern and traditional healthcare systems are available to people at all levels of health care system. He said that the world recognises the AYUSH system now because of its contribution during the COVID pandemic. He added that the World Health Organisation joined hands with the Ministry of Ayush and organised the two-day Traditional Medicine Global Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Mr. Sonowal said that there are more than 900 start ups including 1 unicorn in the area of traditional medicine in India.

Minister of State for AYUSH Mahendra Munjapara called upon the states to ensure proper utilisation and monitoring of funds strengthen adminstrative structure, operationalization of AYUSH health care systems, captivity building and focus on staff training.  He added that activities related to Yoga must be expanded all AYUSH Healthcare facilities, schools and villages.
 
Representatives of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu were present at the review meeting.
