Union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale distributed teaching-learning materials to Divyangjans at the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) at Secunderabad in Telangana yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, the government is committed to the welfare of people with special needs and working through various special schemes for the benefit of Divyang people. He assured that the Centre will provide all necessary support to the NIEPID, Secunderabad to ensure that the best facilities are provided to its students.
Later, the Minister inaugurated the ‘Braille for All’ training and learning centre at Braille Park and released a scientific book for individuals with special needs.
Stating that the country has about 2.68 crore Divyang people as per 2011 Census, Mr Athawale asked Divyangjans to apply for grants through the Ministry’s online portal.
