Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has called for careful analysis in response to the tariffs imposed by the United States. Speaking to media in New Delhi today, Mr. Puri said that development regarding the tariffs should be allowed to evolve before making any hasty decisions. The Minister emphasized that tariffs serve multiple purposes and can have varied impacts, making it essential to approach the issue with caution and proper understanding. He assured that the Commerce Ministry is actively examining the situation.

Mr Puri also hit out at Congress for its comments on tariffs. He said that anyone commenting on tariffs should first gain a clear understanding of their nature and implications.

Talking about the decline in the prices of natural gas and crude oil in the international market, Mr Puri said that oil marketing companies have ample headroom to deal with the evolving situation.
