The International Conference on Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) for Sustainability & Climate Change was inaugurated by Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh, in the presence of the Minister of State for Textiles, Pabitra Margherita on Sunday. The Conference has been organized by the NTTM (National Technical Textiles Mission) and IJIRA (Indian Jute Industries Research Association) under the Ministry of Textiles.

Speaking at the event, Union Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted the importance of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in addressing global challenges such as environmental pollution and climate change.  He said, the Government is committed to promoting sustainable practices in all sectors, including the textile sector adding that this conference provides an excellent platform for sharing knowledge and best practices.  He said, we are focused on achieving carbon neutrality and reducing pollution, and NbS is a key pathway to this goal.

During the conference, the Minister of State, Shri Pabitra Margherita, drew attention to the unique role of Northeast India in the global sustainability agenda. Shri Margherita urged local industries, researchers, and community leaders to actively participate in adopting sustainable solutions that will not only benefit the region but also serve as a model for other parts of the world.
