Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy formally lit up the historic Charminar Monument in the colours of the tricolour on Saturday (5 August 20230 evening at a gala event in Hyderabad. The illumination project has been carried out under the National Culture Fund, under the Ministry of Culture. The façade of illumination at Hyderabad is a collaborative effort between the National Culture Fund, the Indian Oil Foundation, and the Archaeological Survey of India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Culture Minister said, the Government is making efforts to get the UNESCO heritage tag for the historic Charminar and Golconda monuments in Telangana. He said, the Charminar lights will be lit every day in the evening, throughout the year and a similar project for Golconda will also be taken up soon.
