Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan has accused the Jharkhand government of laxity in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission. Dr Murugan, who is on a three-day official visit to Aspirational District Palamu to review the central government schemes, said that the Centre had provided the necessary amount to Jharkhand for this purpose five years back, but due to lack of interest by the state government, proper implementation of the mission could not be done.
The minister said that the Jal Jeevan Mission is one of the dream projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under this scheme, pure drinking tap water is being supplied to every household.
Earlier in the day, Dr Murugan addressed the district-level workshop organised under Good Governance Week in Palamu. On this occasion, he assured that the Central Government is committed to solving all public problems. He also reviewed the ongoing development works in Palamu under the Aspirational District Programme. During this, the minister focused on the effective implementation of development works. Dr Murugan also had a review meeting with the officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Doordarshan, Akashvani, PIB and CBC.
