Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlights the need to bridge science and technology with Indian languages

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today highlighted the need to bridge science and technology with Indian languages. He was speaking at the Technology and Bharatiya Bhasha Summit in New Delhi. Dr. Singh said that non-English speakers are often held back by language barriers in academia. He remarked that the British-era education policy kept English as the gateway to success.

Dr. Singh urged for a practical solution that isn’t just propaganda and sermonizing local language but using proper incentives for growth. He added that students have long been prisoners of aspirations and that the change in policy will help them make better career choices. The Minister also said that India's success through indigenous vaccines and the Chandrayaan Mission shows the leap the nation has taken in healthcare and technology. Dr. Singh reminded that change will be slow and gradual. He hoped that by 2047 when India celebrates 100 years of Independence, the nation will also celebrate the fruits of these hard works.

Talking exclusively to Akashvani News, Director of IIT Madras Professor Kamakoti Veezhinathan highlighted the growing importance of AI in the field of education.
