Union Minister C.R. Patil launches Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025 in Haryana

On World Water Day today, Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil launched the country-wide Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain – 2025 from Tau Devi Lal Stadium of Panchkula in Haryana. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Chaudhary and several eminent dignitaries were present on the occasion.

 

The campaign has been launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Government of Haryana. The campaign underlines the importance of water conservation, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge in the wake of climate change and increasing water challenges. The initiative is focusing on 148 districts across the country.

 

Union Jal Shakti Minister along with the Chief Minister of Haryana and Irrigation and Water Resources Minister inaugurated a painting and sculpture exhibition showcasing artistic expressions on water conservation.

 

 

The Union Minister alongwith Haryana Chief Minister also e-launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana’ and Water Resources Atlas for Haryana. Innovative water management projects including community sanitation complex, liquid waste management system, Gobar Dhan project and a solid waste management shed were also unveiled in Haryana.

 

Mr. Patil also launched ‘Jal-Jungle-Jan: Ek Prakritik Bandhan Abhiyan’, which strengthens the ecological relationship between rivers, springs and forests. On this occasion, progressive farmers, women, water user associations, industries and NGOs were honoured with awards for their outstanding contribution in water conservation.A
