Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw today conducted an extensive review of the activities of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National Film Development Corporation of India.
The minister also reviewed the progress of the National Centre of Excellence in Animation, stressing the importance of animation and visual effects as growing sectors within the Indian entertainment industry.
Calling for efforts to increase employment generation in this sector, Mr Vaishnaw said the industry must plan to create high-quality jobs that are also commercially viable.
During his visit, Mr. Vaishnaw also visited the National Museum of Indian Cinema. He commended NFDC and the National Film Archives of India for their exemplary work in restoring and preserving India’s cinematic heritage.
Mr Vaishnaw also planted a sapling on NFDC premises under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
