Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur visits flood-affected areas to take stock of damages in Himachal

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur is visiting the affected areas of the state to take stock of the damages caused by heavy rains and floods in Himachal. Today, he took stock of the damages caused by the natural calamity in Una district and also presided over the meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee. The Union Minister instructed the officials to speed up the development works and complete them in a time-bound manner.
 
AIR correspondent reports that Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur, on the fourth day of his visit to Himachal Pradesh today, took stock of the damages caused by heavy rains and floods in Una district. Speaking on the occasion, he said that despite the heavy spate in the Swan river, there has been very little damage, due to the channelization project of the river carried out by the previous BJP governments.
 
Anurag Thakur said that the Central Government has so far provided an amount of about Rs.360 crore to the Himachal Government during the natural calamity. He said that the state government will be helped further after sending the report of the complete data of the loss to the Center. The Union Minister said that some representatives of the state government are doing politics even during this disaster, which is condemnable.
 
Anurag Singh Thakur also strongly condemned the increase in VAT on diesel by the state government in this time of disaster.
