Union Home Secretary Reviews Progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Chandigarh

Union Home Secretary, Mr. Govind Mohan, today reviewed the implementation and progress of various centrally sponsored schemes and other flagship programs in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Advisor to Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Mr. Rajiv Verma, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Ashutosh Agnihotri, and other senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration were present in the meeting.

 

The Chandigarh Administration shared the progress report of 30 flagship schemes that are implemented in Chandigarh. Officers from the departments of Municipal Corporation, Health and Education, Social Welfare, Finance, Environment, Industries, and Sports presented the status of their respective flagship programs, emphasising the ongoing efforts to develop Chandigarh as a clean, green, and smart city.

 

The Union Home Secretary expressed satisfaction over the effective implementation of these schemes and emphasised the potential of Chandigarh to become a role model among Union Territories in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Union Home Secretary also reviewed the implementation of three new criminal laws and apps: e-Evidence, Nyay Setu, Nyay Shruti, and e-Summons, recently launched in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He said these newly enacted criminal laws will save time and money for witnesses and experts, reduce congestion in courts, and ensure speedy trials.
