The United Nations has said that nine employees of its agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) may have been involved in 7th of October terror attack on Israel by Palestinian group Hamas last year, which sparked war in Gaza. The employment of these individuals has been terminated. UN spokesman Farhan Haq speaking at a daily media briefing, yesterday said, they have sufficient information for terminating these nine individuals. He said, the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) conducted investigation into 19 area staff members of the UNRWA, regarding allegations of their involvement in the attacks in southern Israel. The Spokesperson said, in respect of the nine cases, the evidence obtained by the OIOS indicated the involvement of UNRWA staff members in the armed attacks.

Israel launched the offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against unprecedented attack launched by Hamas in southern Israeli border on 7th October last year during which about 1,200 people were killed and around 250 were taken hostage.
