UK cities see riots following murder of three girls; Misinformation fuels anti-immigration protests

In Britain, violent clashes swept across several cities following the murder of three young girls in a knife attack in northwest of the country. Police were injured in clashes with far-right protesters yesterday. Riots involving hundreds of anti-immigration protesters have erupted in towns and cities after false information spread rapidly on social media that the suspect in Monday’s knife attack in South Port was a radical Muslim migrant.

Police have said the suspect, Axel Rudakubana, 17, was born in Britain but protests by anti-immigration and anti-Muslim demonstrators have continued, descending into violence, arson and looting. Violent disorder erupted in Liverpool, Bristol, Hull and Belfast, located in different corners of the UK.

Last week, three young girls were killed and several others critically injured after a knife attack on a children’s dance club in South Port of the country. This sparked mass protests and clashes with police amid unconfirmed reports that the knife man was a refugee.
