US President Donald Trump spoke with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marking his first conversation with a foreign leader since taking office. The call took place amid a complex situation in the West Asia region.
During the conversation, the Crown Prince congratulated President Trump on his swearing-in and conveyed the congratulations of King Salman, wishing the American people further progress and prosperity. The leaders discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation to promote peace, security, and stability, as well as efforts to combat terrorism.
Saudi Arabia was President Trump’s first international destination during his initial presidency. Speaking in the Oval Office this week, Mr Trump explained that he chose the kingdom as his first stop because Saudi officials pledged to make significant investments in the United States. He also noted that he would consider returning to Saudi Arabia if similar investment commitments were made.
