Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Anupriya Patel on Wednesday (13 September 2023) said that the export plan of each district of Tripura has been designed by the Government. There are a total of eight districts in Tripura, namely, West Tripura, Sepahijala, Dhalai, Gomati, South Tripura, North Tripura and Unakoti.
Talking to reporters, after the review meeting of various developmental projects at Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district, Ms. Anupriya Patel said in order to increase exports from the State, the Ministry will provide financial grants to establish the infrastructure. She said with regards to the export from Tripura with respect to the Himalayan States, the State ranks fourth in the list. She added that more exports from Tripura will eventually boost the State's economy.
The Minister said, in order to increase rubber cultivation, the Ministry is striving to spread it over to two lakh hectares of land, in the northeast region. Ms. Patel also said the Government is in talks with tyre companies in this endeavour. The Minister's visit to Tripura was under the Centre's outreach programme to the northeast.
