Tribal youth interact in the national capital under TYEP

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai today interacted with around 200 tribal youth under the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) in New Delhi. These youth, belonging to tribal districts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, are currently on a tour to the national capital. Interacting with these tribal youth, the Union Minister said that a lot of development work has taken place in the Left-Wing Extremism-affected districts of the country. He mentioned that networks of roads and railways have been developed, and new schools have been opened in these districts. Mr. Rai said that tribal communities have contributed a lot to the country’s struggle for freedom and preserving its culture. He appealed to the youth to contribute to making India a developed nation by 2027.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan said that TYEP is being organised in 24 different cities of the country, in which 4,800 tribal youth are participating in the programme. In Delhi, it has been organised from the 2nd to the 8th of this month. He said the programme aims to promote the aspirations of the youth and make them aware of the various developmental activities and job opportunities.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has been running the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) for the last 15 years. Under this programme, young men and women from the tribal communities of the interior areas most affected by Left-Wing Extremism are taken to major cities and metropolises across the country.
