Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda said that Indian Railways is committed to the safety and security of the passenger and that train accidents have been reduced significantly in the country. Briefing media in New Delhi today on the completion of nine years of the Government, the Minister said, train accidents have reduced to 48 in the last financial year from 135 in 2014-15. He said, Indian Railways have taken several measures to improve the safety mechanism of train operations. He said, Rashtriya Rail Sanraksh Kosh was created in 2017-18 with a corpus of one lakh crore rupees for a period of five years for upgrading the critical safety assets of Railways. He said, as the biggest employer in the country, the Railways have filled the vacancies of over four lakh 88 thousand in the last nine years.
