Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that the fusion of traditional knowledge with modern technology could give India an advantage over others. He said this while addressing a gathering at the celebration of five years of the Science and Heritage Research Initiative (SHRI) in New Delhi today. Dr Singh noted the government’s work in digitalising traditional knowledge under the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library, making it accessible for global research while ensuring its protection from misuse. He also highlighted the need to integrate scientific innovation with livelihood opportunities, particularly through traditional crafts and skills.

Speaking to the media, the minister said that the country needs to excel in what other countries are doing, but India also needs to be a master in the exclusive domains.
