Traditional and modern medicines have to go hand in hand and clubbed together as their goal is same, ie, the prevention of diseases, said Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal at the Regional Review Meeting of North Eastern States on Ayush in Guwahati today.

Addressing at the meeting, the Union Minister said that the Ministry of Ayush and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are working together to provide best possible healthcare service to the people. At present, dedicated Ayush department is available at 19 AIIMS of the country, informed Mr. Sonowal. Speaking  on the occassion, Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that during the last 9 years, Ayush has got the international recognition and Ayush has opened new opportunities has huge scope for growth.

Mr. Sarma said that NE states are important for the Ayush sector as medicinal plants are available in this region. Union MoS for Ayush Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai and Health Minister of NE states attended the meeting.
