Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary has said that a total of 202 Centres of Excellence CoEs have been established in the country with the help of sector skill councils. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Mr Chaudhary said, the 36 sector skill councils are the principal bodies where the industries are involved by the Ministry. He said, these organisations are led by the industry and they work in coordination with the Ministry. The Minister said, the entire system of giving national recognition to Centres of Excellence is designed to bring more visibility to impactful, credible institutions. He said, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship had issued guidelines in this regard in 2019. Mr Chaudhary said, one of the sector skill council is focusing on green jobs. He said, PM Surya Ghar Scheme is targeting one lakh jobs.
