Top Seven Companies Lose Rs 1.22 Lakh Crores as Stock Market Volatility Hits BSE Sensex

Volatility in the stock market caused 1.22 lakhs crores rupees loss to top seven companies this week as the BSE Sensex fell 307 points, or 0.3 percent.

 

The combined market valuation of seven of the top-10 most valued firms eroded by  1,22,107 crores rupees last week, with Tata Consultancy Services and Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest laggards, in line with weak trend in equities. TCS, India’s largest IT company by market value, saw its market capitalization fall by more than 35,600 crores rupees, whereas Reliance Industries, the country’s largest firm by valuation, shed more than 21,350 crore rupees. Even FMCG major ITC faced significant losses, with its valuation slipping by more than 18,700 crores rupees, followed by Hindustan Unilever Ltd losing more than 16,000 crores rupees.
