Top 50 willful defaulters owe Rs 87,295 crore of scheduled commercial banks: Union Minister Dr. Bhagwat Karad

The top 50 willful defaulters of the country owe 87,295 crore rupees of scheduled commercial banks. On the other hand banks have written off an aggregate amount of more than 10 lakh 57 thousand crore rupees during the last five financial years. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad gave the details of ten willful defaulters in scheduled commercial banks of the country as on 31 March this year provided by Reserve Bank of India. According to the list, Gitanjali Gems Limited is on top of the list which owns 8738 crore rupees of the banks.
