The three major US indices ended just slightly lower after bouncing off session lows yesterday amid investors awaiting Friday's monthly jobs report and further possible clues on the outlook for interest rates.
 
The Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500, both fell 0.1 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial average slipped 0.03 percent.
