Prime Minister Minister Narendra Modi is chairing the third session namely One Future on the second and concluding day of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. World leaders and delegates are participating in the session. Prime Minister Modi will also officially hand over the G20 Presidency to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the end of the Summit. The Global leaders started their day by visiting Raj Ghat to pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed them at Raj Ghat. US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol among other leaders laid wreaths at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi. Later in a social media post, Prime Minister Modi said that at the iconic Rajghat, the G20 family paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi – the beacon of peace, service, compassion, and non-violence. He said, as diverse nations converge, Mahatma Gandhi's timeless ideals guide our collective vision for a harmonious, inclusive, and prosperous global future.
On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, several bilateral meetings have been lined up today. Prime Minister Modi will hold working lunch meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron. He will also do pull-aside meetings with Canadian leaders, and bilateral meetings with leaders of Comoros, Türkiye, UAE, South Korea, European Union, European Commission, Brazil, and Nigeria.
On the first day of the Summit yesterday, the G 20 member nations unanimously adopted the New Delhi Leaders Declaration. It is being seen as a significant victory for India's G-20 presidency. Inclusive growth, accelerating actions to deal with climate change and increasing medical supplies to be future ready for health emergencies among others are the focus areas of the G-20 New Delhi Leaders' Declaration. The member countries have expressed their commitment to accelerate sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth with effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They also expressed commitment to accelerate action to address the issue of climate challenges by pursuing low carbon emissions, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable development pathways. In a major diplomatic victory under India’s G20 presidency, the African Union became a permanent member of the grouping. Prime Minister Modi called upon the world to come together to transform the global trust deficit among nations into trust and confidence. He said this is the time for everyone to move together. He also said that concrete solutions were needed to address the challenges related to food, fuel, terrorism, cyber security, health, and energy. The Prime Minister said that the 21st century was an important time to show the world a new direction. He stressed that the world should move ahead fulfilling responsibilities with a human-centric approach. Prime Minister Modi along with the leaders of Singapore, Bangladesh, Italy, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mauritius and UAE, launched the Global Biofuel Alliance. The India-Middle East-Europe mega economic corridor deal was also announced on the sidelines of the Summit.
