The Government has launched the sale of chana dal at 60 rupees per kg under the brand name of Bharat Dal to make pulses available to consumers at affordable prices. Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Ashwini Kumar Choubey informed this in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today. He said, Bharat Dal is being distributed from the 17th of last month through retail outlets of NAFED, Kendriya Bhandar, and Safal. Mr Choubey said, the Government maintains a buffer stock of five major pulses – Chana, Tur, Urad, Moong, and Masur under the Price Stabilisation Fund to make pulses available to consumers at affordable prices. He said, the stocks from the buffer are released in the market in a calibrated and targeted manner to control prices.
