BSE Sensex lost 58 points or 0.08 percent to close at 74,683. Nifty-50 fell 23 points or 0.1 percent to settle at 22,642.
In the forex market, the Indian rupee today ended at 83 rupees and 31 paise against the US dollar.
Gold prices at Multi Commodity Exchange for June contracts, were trading at 71,575 rupees per 10 gram. Silver prices were trading at 82,477 rupees per kilogram for May contracts when reports last came in.
In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 90 dollars and 51 cents per barrel, when reports last came in.
