The "Pad Yatra," undertaken by Buddhist monks of Thailand and other devotees of different parts of the world and India, culminated in Ladakh. The 32-day ‘Dhamma Padh Yatra’ that started on June 10 from Dharamsala was aimed at propagating the message of peace and harmony in the world. Upon entering Ladakh, the monks were warmly welcomed by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder and President of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh.
The Pad Yatris crossed the difficult and challenging high mountains of the Himalayas on their journey to Ladakh. At the Mahabodhi campus, they were joined by the monks and devotees from the Ladakh Buddhist Association and the Ladakh Gonpa Association.
Addressing the congregation, the president of MIMC emphasized that the padh yatra is worthy of the highest appreciation, adding that only those who have profound faith in themselves and great compassion for the world can take up such a challenging and strenuous journey through the high mountains of the Himalayas.
On the second day, the monks and local people also made special prayers for world peace. The final leg of the congregation was attended by a large number of monks, leaders of different faiths, religious bodies, devotees, and students. Prominent persons who took part in the concluding ceremony include the ambassador of Thailand in India, Pattarat Hongtong; the president of the Ladakh Gompa Association; the president of the Ladakh Buddhist Association; President Anjuman Imamia; the president of Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam; and the president of the Christian Association.
