Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said that terrorism remains a dynamic and evolving challenge with threats increasingly transcending borders. The Secretary said this during the 14th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) Experts Working Group (EWG) on Counter-Terrorism in New Delhi yesterday. He further highlighted India’s efforts towards countering terrorism in the region, including the adoption of the Delhi Declaration during India’s chairmanship of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the UNSC in 2022.

The two-day event featured delegations from the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN countries and ADMM-Plus member states with India and Malaysia as co-chairs. During the meeting, discussions were held to focus on evolving a robust and comprehensive strategy to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism and extremism. It was also announced that the conduct of the Table-Top Exercise for EWG on Counter-Terrorism will be held in Malaysia next year and the Field Training Exercise in India in 2027.
