Telecom sector playing big role in expanding digital economy: Rajeev Chandrasekhar

Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said the telecom sector is playing a big role in expanding digital economy and leading to a five-trillion dollar economy goal by 2026. Briefing media in New Delhi this morning, he said in India's Techade, there exists ease of doing business and various reforms are being undertaken by the Government. Today, mobile phones are being exported from India. He added that under the NDA, there is stability, and positive sentiments and investors are rapidly investing in India.
 
The Minister alleged that the 10 years of the UPA in the telecom were certainly a Lost Decade as it was a corruption-filled, crony capitalism-led sector, adding that there was nothing but only scams like 2G Scam, BSNL Scam and much more. He said, in India's Techade, the Government created licences with absolute transparency and integrity. Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, every rupee that has been gained from the auction of spectrum has gone to the public exchequer and has been deployed in expenditure of the schemes.
 
In another briefing, Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation V K Singh said, on National Highways, an intelligence system is being installed, and the Government is also planning to install Barrier less Tolling.  He said, the Optical Fiber Network is being used in an innovative way. The Minister said, the number of gram panchayats which have been connected with the Network is a record itself. Mr Singh informed that 5G has reached 631 districts of the country, and the Government is progressing on 6G Telecom.
