Telangana to implement crop loan waiver from tomorrow onwards

Telangana State Government will be implementing the crop loan waiver from tomorrow onwards. State Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced this at a meeting held in Hyderabad with District Collectors and Superintendents of Police yesterday. The two lakh rupees loan waiver programme will commence with waiving farm loans up to one lakh rupees initially. The state government will directly deposit the amount to farmer’s loan accounts by tomorrow evening. An official release stated that clear instructions had been issued to the bankers that the loan waiver funds should not get diverted. It also said that if any banker is found depositing the released fund in other accounts, strict action will be taken against them. It may be recalled that the Congress party promised a crop loan waiver of up to 2 lakh rupees, during the State Assembly elections held last year.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties including BJP and BRS criticised imposing conditions for implementing the programme in the name of the guidelines and alleged that several farmers will not get the benefit of the programme due to conditions.
