Telangana to get pharma clusters, energy policy, skill university

The Telangana State Government has assured the pharma sector that it is committed to industrial growth with a multi-pronged approach including setting up pharma clusters, a skill university and a new energy policy. Formally opening the 73rd Indian Pharmaceutical Congress in Hyderabad yesterday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka along with two more ministers, assured the industry to this effect.

He asserted that there is no issue with power or water availability. He said a new energy policy focussing on green energy is all set to be unveiled in the State shortly. Speaking on the occasion, State Industries Minister Sridhar Babu said a proposal for pharma clusters, with the objective of geographically decentralising the industry’s growth, is among the policies and initiatives announced by the government within a few months of coming to power.

He further said the government is keen on a cluster-based development model to promote industrial growth and generate employment. He added that about 10 pharma industry zones are expected to be established across Telangana.
