In Telangana, a case has been registered by the police against former State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and four others in connection with an alleged GST fraud amounting to 1,400 crore rupees. Based on a complaint filed by an official of the Commercial Tax Department, the FIR was registered by the Central Crime Station (CCS) a wing of the Hyderabad police a few days ago, which also named an Assistant Professor of IIT Hyderabad. Police informed that the case was registered on charges of criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy among others and other relevant sections of the IT Act. On preliminary verification of (11) cases, which were masked by IIT Hyderabad, evasion of more than 400 crore rupees was identified. One such masked case was that of Telangana State Beverages Corporation Limited in which evasion of more than a thousand crore rupees was unearthed through fraudulent cases detected.
