Telangana minister K Tarka Ramarao pitches for life sciences-technology corridor between Hyderabad and Bengaluru

Telangana state Industries minister K Tarka Ramarao has pitched for a life sciences-technology corridor between Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He said the life sciences sector in Telangana had grown at 23 per cent against the national average of 14 percent, during the last two years. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of a (Syngene Scientific Solutions Limited’s) research laboratory at Genome Valley in Hyderabad, the minister said half a million jobs were created since 2014 and the vision was to further expand this ecosystem and make Hyderabad a 250-billion-dollar enterprise by 2030.

He said the investment of 800 crore rupees was not about just brick and mortar but about confidence that the company has in Hyderabad’s potential as a hub for cutting edge research and development in life sciences sector.

Stressing on the need to invest in education and skilling, Mr Rao asked Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman of Biocon Group to collaborate with State government in academics as a life sciences university was being launched shortly.
