The Telangana government has declared 29 out of 33 districts in the state as flood-hit districts. An assistance of three crore rupees for each of these districts to carry out immediate relief works was announced. Earlier, four districts were declared flood hit and relief works were being carried out there. A high-level review meeting was held by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad on Sept 6.
State Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari said the declaration was made based on the rainfall recorded from the 31st of last month to the 3rd of this month. The district collectors have been directed to complete the enumeration and send their reports by Monday. She further informed us that the death toll due to rain-related incidents rose to 29 in the state. The state government has also appointed a special officer district-wise to prepare the losses in the requisite format.
