Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan rejected two names recommended by the State Cabinet for nomination as Members of the State Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota. The Governor reportedly wrote a letter to the State Chief Secretary rejecting the names of K. Satyanarayana and D. Sravan as MLC candidates. The governor said in the letter that the two MLC candidates recommended by the government were unfit for MLC posts under the Governor's quota. She said that the profiles of nominees do not indicate their special knowledge in Literature, science, art, Cooperative movement, and social services which are mandatory to get elected MLC under the Governor quota. Earlier, the Governor rejected BRS leader P Kaushik Reddy's name for the MLC post citing the main reasons for not meeting the required qualifications.
Meanwhile, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy has welcomed the Governor’s decision to reject the proposed names who were not meeting the required qualifications. On the other side, several ministers and senior BRS leaders criticised the Governor’s decision on the matter.
