In Mumbai, Team Terabyte from Girijananda Chaudhary University Guwahati, Team Shiledar from Datta Meghe College of Engineering Navi Mumbai, Team RadarVision Dayanand College of Engineering Bengaluru, Team Aristos from Rajalakshmi Engineering College Chennai, Team Power X MGM JNEC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Maharashtra, Team Sankalp007 from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Punjab and Team X- Helios, Chennai Institute of Technology, Chennai have emerged victorious in different categories in the Smart India Hackathon 2024.
The teams from various states of the country worked on problem statements namely, ‘Conversational Image Recognition Chatbot’, ‘Women Safety Analytics’, ‘Micro Doppler based target classification’, ‘AI-based solution for traffic management’, ‘Live location tracking and Converting 2D blueprint into 3D models’.
A total of 34 teams consisting of 204 students participated at Welingkar Institute in Mumbai. The teams worked on 6 problem statements given by various Ministries and Government Departments including the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Science and Technology and Bharat Electronics Ltd.
The Grand Finale of the 7th edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 concluded late last night at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar. Six teams emerged as top performers at the nodal centre. Hosting the Grand Finale for the first time, NIT Srinagar was one of the 51 nodal centres across the country.
Mumbai-based Welingkar Institute of Management, Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida, Yashwant Rao Chavan Engineering, Nagpur, and Techno Main Salt Lake, Kolkata have bagged prizes in Agriculture Problem Statements in Software version of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH), held at IIT-Hyderabad.
Similarly, the National Institute of Technology Silchar won for its solution on an automatic identification system for oil spells while IIIT Nagpur bagged the prize on recreation suitability of beaches at the software version of the SIH held at Vardhaman College of Engineering in Hyderabad. The SIH concluded last night. Navi Mumbai-based Datta Meghe College of Engineering, IIIT and Management Institute, Gwalior, Chatrapathi Sahuji Maharaj University Kanpur, and IIIT Pune bagged prizes in other problem statements relating to Earth Sciences.
Vice President Nodal Centre Head at the Vardhaman College of Engineering, Hyderabad, Dr Yogesh Topale said the students who took part in the Hackathon gave prototype output very close to the problem statements requirements.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (Software Editon) 2024 concluded successfully at IIT Jammu late last night. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the event brought together 28 teams from across India to tackle critical cybersecurity challenges posed by the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Center (NCIIPC). Six teams emerged as winners, each receiving a prize of ₹ 1 lakh along with certificates. The awards were presented by the Director of IIT Jammu, Professor Manoj Singh Gaur during the closing ceremony. The occasion was graced by Satish Kaul, Managing Director of M’cure Pharmaceuticals, Sunit Kumar, Regional Director of J&K Bank and Sandeep Sharma, Zonal Head of ICICI Bank for J&K and Ladakh. Professor Gaur commended the participants for their innovative solutions and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in driving technological advancements, aligning with India’s vision of a technologically advanced future under the National Education Policy.
