In Tamilnadu, State Water Resources Minister Durai Murugan has said that the Karnataka Government should uphold the judgement of the Supreme Court as per the verdict of the Cauvery Tribunal on releasing water from Cauvery to Tamilnadu. Speaking to the media in Chennai, he said that according to the judgement, Karnataka is bound to release 5000 cusecs of water for 15 days from Cauvery. The Minister said that as Tamilnadu had sought legal remedy on the issue, it would not be appropriate to hold talks with Karnataka. He said that water should be shared with Tamilnadu unmindful of the situation in Karnataka otherwise it will be a case of contempt of Court. Mr. Durai Murugan said that farmers would be benefited if the water is released according to the judgement of the Supreme Court.
