In Tamilnadu, the DIG of Coimbatore Range, C. Vijayakumar allegedly shot himself this morning. The reason for the act is yet to be ascertained. After completing his usual morning walk he shot himself inside his room. Vijayakumar took charge as the DIG of police, Coimbatore range on January 6th this year. He was a 2009 batch IPS officer.

Earlier he served as Superintendent of Police in Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur Districts. Later he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Anna Nagar Chennai. He was promoted to DIG and posted in the Coimbatore range this year. His body was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Further inquiries are on.
