LS passes Women's Reservation Bill providing one-third reservation of seats for women in Lower House and State legislative Assemblies

The Lok Sabha has given its nod to the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, seeking to reserve one-third of the total number of seats for women in Lower House and State legislative assemblies. The Bill is called Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The Bill was passed last evening after a division of vote in which 454 MPs voted in favor of the Bill while two MPs against it.
