Union Minister for Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju has visited and inspected the High Altitude Cloud Physics Laboratory at Mahabaleshwar situated in Satara district of Maharashtra. The laboratory is functioning as a branch of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune. The center mainly studies cloud movements related to monsoon rains. Minister for Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju has said that the role of India Meteorological Department IMD is becoming critical in view of climate change.
