The division bench of Calcutta High Court suspended the death sentence of the convicts in the Kamduni rape and murder case. A division bench of Justice Jayamalya Bagchi and Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta ordered life imprisonment for Saiful Ali and Ansar Ali, who were sentenced to death in the lower court. The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea filed by the West Bengal Government challenging the Calcutta High Court order transferring the probe in the West Bengal Municipality Recruitment scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
