BMC ban on sale and use of plastic to make Mumbai plastic-free

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has once again started a strict implementation of a ban on the manufacture, use, sale, transportation, handling, and storage of single-use plastic, to make Mumbai plastic-free.   In its fresh crackdown which began yesterday, the civic body seized 87 kilograms of single-use plastic on the first day of its drive against the prohibited item and collected fines worth 2.95 lakh rupees.
