T20I: India and South Africa match called off due to rain

In Women’s Cricket, the match between India and South Africa has been called off due to rain, at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. Earlier, put into bat, South Africa posted 177 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Tazmin Brits was the top scorer with 52 runs in 39 balls, followed by Anneke Bosch with 40 off 32 balls. For India, Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar clinched 2 wickets each, while Shreyanka Patil and Radha Yadav scalped one wicket each.

However, a heavy downpour during the innings break forced the umpires to declare the match abandoned without a ball being bowled in the second inning. This result ensures South Africa a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The third and last match of the series will be played on the 9th of July at the same venue.
