T20 World Cup: India beat US by 7 wickets to reach Super Eights round

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Cricket, India defeated United States by 7 wickets at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York last night. 
 

With this win, India secured the Super 8 qualification with a game in hand in Group A. Put into bat first, United States scored 110 runs as Arshdeep Singh delivered a beautiful spell to clinch four wickets.  

 

Chasing the target of 111, India were off to the worst start with left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar getting rid of Virat Kohli at a golden duck and Rohit on three runs, in successive overs.

 

However, Surya Kumar Yadav’s gritty half-century and his partnership with Shivam Dube guided India to a hard-fought win.

    
In other matches, Hosts, West Indies defeated New Zealand by 13 runs at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad today. With this win, West Indies also secured the Super 8 qualification. 

 

Put in to bat first, West Indies scored 149 for nine in 20 overs.

 

Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten, with 68 runs from 39 balls. While Trent Boult scalped three wickets for the Kiwis. 

    
Chasing 150, New Zealand could score only 136 for 9 in the stipulated 20 overs. Alzarri Joseph with four wickets and Gudakesh Motie with three wickets helped the hosts to advance to the Super 8.

    
Later in the day, Bangladesh will face off against Netherlands at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, West Indies.
