SVEEP activities have sparked a significant surge in youth voter registration across Delhi: CEO P. Krishnamurthy

Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi P. Krishnamurthy has said that the concerted efforts of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation SVEEP activities have sparked a significant surge in youth voter registration across Delhi. In a statement, Mr Krishnamurthy said, the final Electoral Roll published in January this year shows a significant increase in the number of first-time voters in Delhi. He said, the latest data reveals a remarkable increase from over one lakh 47 thousand to approximately two lakh 43 thousand first-time voters enlisted in the voting list. The CEO hoped that the final figure would increase upto approximately 2.5 lakh after the publication of Supplementary Electoral Roll. He said, this achievement stands as a testament to the effective implementation of voter awareness campaigns targeting the youth demographic.

Mr Krishnamurthy said, extensive engagement initiatives, including Chunav Pathshalas, Electoral Literacy Clubs and Voter Awareness Forums have been decisive in mobilizing young citizens to register themselves on the voter list.

He said, SVEEP activities have been conducted on a large scale, encompassing a diverse range of initiatives such as street plays, drawing competitions, essay writing competitions, slogan contests, painting competitions, and voter awareness rallies across various districts.
