Surajkund International Crafts Mela Concludes; Over 20 Lakh Visitors Celebrate Art & Culture

The Surajkund International Crafts Mela, which began on 7th February at Faridabad, Haryana, concluded today. During the 17-day event, artisans from 42 countries participated in the Mela and showcased their products. This time Madhya Pradesh and Odisha participated as theme states in the mela. Union Minister Manohar Lal attended the closing ceremony of the mela in which Haryana Tourism Minister Arvind Sharma was also present. Our correspondent reports that the finale of the mela included the recognition and honouring of artisans and performers who have distinguished themselves in cultural presentations.

 

More than 20 lakh tourists and visitors visited the Surajkund International Crafts Mela to learn about the rich cultural heritage of the country. Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs said that the grand mela offered a big opportunity for the artisans and craftsmen to showcase their talent and skills. He added that Surajkund Mela is making its mark at the international level in the field of art and craft.

 

The crafts fair featured more than a thousand stalls offering a diverse range of handicrafts, textiles, and cultural artefacts, including the presence of both domestic and foreign artisans, live cultural performances, and handcrafted goods.
