Supreme Court orders presence of DGP Manipur in Court during hearing of batch of petitions on violence in State

The Supreme Court has ordered the presence of DGP Manipur in the Court today during the hearing of the batch of petitions on violence in the State. This batch of petition includes plea by two women from Kuki-Zomi community, who's video had surfaced over the internet.

The Apex Court had criticized the State police for failing to control the law and order situation there. Over 6500 FIRs that have been filed in the case. The Court is formulating on the setting up of a judicial committee comprising retired judges to address the allegations. The committee shall decide on issues like relief, compensation, rehabilitation, fair investigation and recording of Section 164 even if the victims have left Manipur during and after the violence.
